About Me

My name is Jason Waller, and I am the Broker for Playa Real estate Group & Riviera Maya Real estate Group. I moved to Playa del Carmen in 2005 with my family from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. We loaded up our Dodge Ram PU with a few essentials and left Winnipeg at the end of July. And only 7 exceptionally long days later we arrived in Playa del Carmen, ready to start a new life in paradise.

Now fast forward 15 years later and I cannot believe that I am running one of the top real estate teams in the Riviera Maya and genuinely enjoying life in paradise. Although I do miss the Winters and the -40C temperatures but I am a trooper and will get past that……LOL

We built these companies to help others like ourselves. I really want to be able to share this amazing place with everyone that wants to make a change in their life and at least have a place they can spend as much time as possible. We have made so many friends from all over the world and look forward to making even more.

    We met Mike Burgoyne at this agency in October 2020 to initially get to know the Rivera Maya area. We had no... intentions of finding "the perfect house" our first time out. We live in the U.S. and so prior to going to MX, we communicated with Mike via WhatsApp, email and then Zoom and expressed our desires in a MX home. Mike heard every request we made. After just two days with him in MX, Mike not only showed us multiple properties in various towns/cities and several different types of listings (condos, stand-alone homes, pre-construction, ...) but he found The Perfect House for our family. Since then our communication with Mike has been spot-on. He is quick to reply, detail-oriented, the perfect professional, and very knowledgeable. Purchasing property in another country made us nervous, but Mike's friendly demeanor and level of knowledge put us at ease. He is by far the best realtor we've ever worked with anywhere - including realtors we have experience with in the U.S. During our home search we came into contact with other realtors at their listings that knew Mike. It was easy to tell they respected him. He is very friendly and will show you impeccable service. In addition, he has reliable contacts to help you from pre-sale through closing with any needs you may come across.     Two years ago we reached out to Marisol of Playa Real Estate Group. Prior to our visit, she was super helpful in... sending us potential condos to look at and providing information about each area relative to what we were looking for. We initially chose Marisol because we really wanted someone fluent in Spanish but little did we know that we'd end up with a friend.During our visit she picked us up and showed us around from Puerto Morelos to Tulum. We had no intention of purchasing off plan but decided to go that route to get the view we wanted. Through the entire process of building: dealing with the lawyer, banks & developer, Marisol advocated for us every step of the way. More importantly during the building process, she was our eyes and ears on the ground, periodically sending updates and following up on things to make sure all of our needs and concerns were being addressed.     We cannot express our gratitude to Tracy! We were new to purchasing a property in Mexico. Tracy helped us find a... Town/City that fix what we were looking for. She took her time explain the different areas and what each had to offer. She then listened to what we were looking for in a place. She showed us many different options including both homes and condos. During the entire process she was patient and explained the purchase steps and approx. cost in Mexico. She was a wealth of information for some people that had virtually no idea what to expect while purchasing a property in a foreign country.     In January 2020, we extended our annual golf trip to Cancún Mexico area as we wanted to look at buying a property... there. After searching on-line and reading reviews, we chose Playa Real Estate Group – Playa del Carmen Real Estate and booked an appointment with Irene Soto. We were so delighted that we did. From the moment she first introduced herself we were immediately impressed with her professionalism, openness and friendliness. She immediately made us feel welcomed and appreciated.Irene picked us up at our hotel, right on time, and devoted her entire day to us to help us find the perfect property. She had done her homework and had lined up several properties that met our requirements. Not once did we ever feel pressured or expected to buy what she showed us. It felt like a day of hanging out with friends. [email protected] Irene is bilingual, she was able to communicate efficiently with the locals and translate so both sides understood. Her strong direct approach was enlightening as she ensured that all our questions were answered to our satisfaction, and she ensured we were content before moving on. Without a doubt, Irene is the person you want on your side. When we were not getting the responses we wanted from one property manager, Irene did not hesitate to call the owner of Playa del Carmen Real Estate, Jason Waller. Jason dropped everything to come to the property to assist us and escalate the concerns to ensure we were comfortable with the details. Very impressive service! I flew from Colorado to Cancoon, and was met by Jason's team member, Marisol. She immediately put my daughter and I at ease as she was kind and informative.     I just bought my SECOND condo with Playa Real Estate group, thanks to Jason Waller and Irene Soto. Yet again, I was the... FIRST to the line to pick from the best available inventory, and they continue to deliver professional, honest, and thorough service through the end. So many other agencies are last to the punch...and they are always FIRST in line thanks to their deep relationships in Playa. Both projects are a dream come true, and only with reputable developers (they have a very high standard on who they recommend to their clients).     Irene Soto from Playa Real Estate Group has been a complete and total blessing! We have now been repeat clients of... hers, will continue using her for all our future Riviera Maya investments and can not recommend her enough! She has gone above and beyond of what a real estate broker typically does. For example- On our first visit to Playa del Carmen she drove us around to different neighborhoods and explained what the current real estate market is in each area. Furthermore, she did not waste our time showing us properties that were out of our budget. Each property she showed us was actually exactly what we were looking for (which only made the decision so much harder!). She also does not work for any particular developer (which, speaking to other neighbors I’ve realized a lot of agents do take preference over a particular developer). This way, Irene was able to give us her unbiased opinion on each property and was able to show us all sorts of properties. Irene is smart. She is efficient. She is competitive. She is honest. She looks out for her client. I can go on and on about how much we love Irene. She also has this amazing, bubbly, personality where you just want to be her friend. And we now do count her as a very close friend! When we first moved to Playa del Carmen we did not know anyone- but it was assuring knowing that she would help and guide us in getting us situated.     I contacted Playa Real Estate online and that is how I met Jason. Very professional gentleman who gave me one of his... agents Tracy.I spoke to Tracy several times and set a date of July 3rd to meet in Puerto Morelos at a condo I was renting. We would go for lunch to discuss the real estate in and around the Playa del Carmen area but more specifically Puerto Morelos.July 3rd came and went. No Tracy , No call, No message . Back to Canada on July 8th.read more

    I cannot rate Playa Real Estate Group and our Real Estate agent Matt highly enough.After deciding to put our house... in Puerto Aventuras on the market we contacted a few agencies and their approach was lackluster to say the least. It was a totally different story when we contacted Playa Real Estate Group. Matt got back to us straight away and arranged to come and see the house the next morning. He had our house listed the following day and had us a buyer within a week. Matt was there to answer any questions we had and was EXTREMELY quick to reply to emails, phone calls, and text messages. We have bought and sold properties in 5 countries and this was by far the best experience we have had.If you are considering buying or selling a property in Playa del Carmen and surrounding towns, contact Matt, his optimistic, professional and positive approach is exactly what you need! Every vacation for 3+ years we... spent a day house hunting and Jason took us to as many properties as we wanted.     My husband and I discovered Mike through the internet. What a gem we found! Meeting Mike was like meeting an old... friend. He listened to what we wanted and showed us what we were looking for, but also introduced us to an area outside of what we originally asked for. Thank goodness he did, because we found our own version of paradise! Once we submitted our offer and signed on the dotted line, one might expect that to be last we would hear from our realtor.     My husband was referred to Playa Real Estate from our local (Seattle) real estate agent and we were matched up with... Steve Meredith. It was a great match as Steve and Wendy Meredith are originally from WA and now live in the Playa area so they know the area and real estate. What a great couple to work with - they definitely go above and beyond what you'd expect from a realtor. I feel like we've made new friends and I must say, after spending a week with them - we miss them! We looked at real estate for a long time on-line and unfortunately looking and finding real estate in Mexico is a lot different than the states. It's a lot harder to find accurate and up to date information on line and it's next to impossible to just do a drive by of a property. It takes a lot of coordination and planning from the listing and selling agents. We worked with Steve for several months before actually making the trip to view properties and Steve had several lined up for us to see each day. Steve and Wendy were a wealth of knowledge and we learned a lot. We cant wait to go back and enjoy our new place and see our new friends!read more
